Love your skin

Looking after your skin is like a slow dance. It takes 2 to make it look sexy. Firstly, that old saying "you are what you eat" is fact! If your gut is unhappy then it reflects on your skin. For years I suffered hormonal acne not knowing that the real cause of my skin congestion was the fact that I was coeliac and dairy intolerant making my gut mad at my face. Once I fix that issue my skin started to clear up (I saw results within 4-6 months).

Secondly, I started using skincare that was natural and effective for my skin. I no longer have any flare ups and my skin is the best it has ever been.

It is never too late to start!!!

My philosophy to good skin is go for a treatment a couple of times a year ie. skin needling, laser or prp needing to get deep into removing all the dead skin of your face.

Secondly treat your gut health with Probiotics, vitamins and minerals (go to your local naturopath and find out what vitamins and minerals you are lacking)

Then lastly apply natural and effective skincare morning and night!

Be AWARE:

Not all skin products are good for your skin!! What you put on your skin will enter into your bloodstream and can affect your moods and hormones:

Take a look at what's in your skincare and hair products: Stay clear of Sulphates, Alcohol, Parabens (cancer causing - especially increasing effects of breast cancer), Manufactured Fragrances, Synthetic colours, Phthalates, Triclosan, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS & SLES), Formaldehyde (FRP, IARC) Toluene, Mineral oil, Propylene glycol and lanolin. If the ingredients are hidden in the products then don't use it.


So let's talk Vitamin C

One of my clients recently was letting me know her skincare routine. She was confused as to why her skin was so red and itchy and put it down to seasonal spring weather. Digging a little deeper into her skincare routine I discovered that she was overdosing on vitamin C. All her skincare and makeup products contained Vitamin C - cleanser, bb cream, eye cream and moisturiser.

Too much Vitamin C can cause a world of problems like blackheads, itchiness, watery eyes, flakiness, redness, skin pigmentation, open pores, and acne.


The safest way to use Vitamin C in your skin regime is firstly make sure you are not sensitive to it and only use a couple of drops every second night. Make sure you don't mix it with other acidic ingredients like retinol, glycolic or salicylic acids. It's all about helping your PH balance not over working it - Vitamin C is most effectively used on its own.


Read the Label:

Look for products that are not tested on animals, free from all of the above and is as organic and close to nature as possible! If you don't understand the products listed then go digging and learn about what you are about to apply to your skin.

My Recommendations:

Always do your research! Read and understand the products you are putting on your skin. If the ingredients have too many numbers in front of them then that means you are applying artificially made skincare to your precious skin.
